Mohan Raja is a well-known and prominent filmmaker who is known for writing and directing films like Thani Oruvan, Velayudham and Velaikaran. He has also made many remake films, including Jayam, M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi, Unakkum Enakkum, Santhosh Subramaniam, Thillalangadi and so on, featuring his brother Jayam Ravi as a lead. Recently, he directed the Telugu film Godfather with Chiranjeevi in the lead role alongside Nayanthara, Tanya Ravichandran, Warina Hussain and others in supporting roles. It was a remake of the blockbuster Malayalam film Lucifer.

Soppana Sundari is an upcoming film that is directed by one of the assistant directors of Mohan Raja, SG Charles. The director gave an energetic speech at the trailer launch event of the movie. He started the speech by saying he was happy to see such a huge gathering of the audience, “as I get old, I am proud to see that my assistants going big and one of the important assistant directors is Charles Prabhu." He revealed that Charles was the one who did many works for Velaikkaran movie. He said he was a hard worker and did films event during lockdown citing the Lock Up film that premiered on Zee 5.
The anchor of the show then asked if Mohan Raja has any advice. The director asked the audience to see the films and then judge them. He said there is no thrill in knowing how good a film is from critics and then going to the theatres. He further explained that “It makes movies either a blockbuster or a flop and leaves no base for average films” and asked people to support Soppana Sundari. when the anchor asked about his plans for Thani Oruvan 2 and Velayudham 2. The director clarified that “It may not happen this year, there are plans for a sequel next year.” This has created excitement among fans. After the trailer release Mohan Raja congratulated the team of Soppana Sundari incluidng Aishwarya Rajesh for success and said it looks like the film has come out well.
