In shocking news, South Indian actress Meena's husband Vidyasagar, who was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai, passed away due to lung-related ailments on Tuesday, June 28. According to reports, Vidyasagar had been suffering from lung diseases for a few years after he contracted allergies by inhaling air that was infected by pigeon droppings. It is being stated that the infection had gotten severe after his entire family had tested COVID-19 positive this January. Although they had made a recovery from the novel coronavirus, Vidyasagar's health condition had begun to deteriorate.

Reports further say that doctors had made the decision to conduct a lung transplantation surgery for Meena's husband a few weeks back, but found difficulty in finding a donor as it can be done only from patients who are brain dead, with the list said to be a long one as well. Doctors had then made attempts to cure Vidyasagar, but had met a tragic roadblock when he breathed his last today. The news of Vidyasagar's unfortunate demise has sent shock waves through the Tamil film industry as many celebrities have been expressing their condolences along with fans to Meena and her daughter Nainika on social media. Tamil actor-politician Sarath Kumar confirmed the news on social media and tweeted, "It is shocking to hear the news of the untimely demise of Actor Meena's husband Vidyasagar, our family's heartfelt condolences to Meena and the near and dear of her family, may his soul rest in peace."
