Comedian and actor Mayilsamy’s death came as shock to his fans, movies buffs and the Tamil film fraternity. The actor died at the age of 57 due to cardiac arrest on Sunday. Important members of the film industry including Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, political leaders and fans paid tribute to the talented actor through social media and visited his home to pay their last respects to him. He became popular for his combination comedy scenes with Vivek and Vadivelu and has appeared in the TV show 'Comedy Time'. Mayilsamy’s son Arumainayagam known by his stage name Anbu has spoke to Galatta Media in an exclusive interview. Anbu explained the sequence of events that led to Mayilsamy's demise that in the interview.

Anbu said he still couldn’t accept the demise of his father Mayilsamy, and thinks his father has gone for a shoot nearby. He said "I have still not recovered from the loss and it feels surreal" and he added everything happened withing 15 minutes. When asked about what happened in the 15 minutes? He said on Mahashivratri, Mayilsamy came home from a dubbing and took his family to the a temple in Kelambakkam. Then, the actor spoke with Drums Sivamani who arrived to the temple to perform. Anbu said "My Father was very happy” after the event. Anbu said the late actor had bought some food earlier to give it to any one in need highlighting her humanitarian character. At around 3.30 AM, they ate and everyone were around watching TV.
Anbu explained then he went up to his room to rest and 10 minutes later he got a call from his mom saying his father was experiencing breathlessness. Following this, Anbu drove him to the hospital in their car and before they could reach the junction from their home the actor became unconscious and hunched. He then took him to a hospital nearby by auto and the doctors said he was no more. He then took him to Ramachandra Hospital hoping something can be done, but they had said its been 45 minutes since his death. Anbu said he was in shock and still can't accept his death as "he was happy and healthy till 4.30 AM and within 15 minutes we lost him".
