Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi turned a television host for the Tamil edition of the world-famous cookery show, Master Chef. The Tamil version, titled Master Chef Tamil, was aired on Sun TV during the weekends at 9.30 PM. The show owned a good fan base and was watched by a large number of family audiences. Master Chef Tamil was a serious cookery show that had minimal fun, giving more focus to the cooking. Devaki Vijayaraman, a 28-year old home baker from Dindigul was declared as the title winner of Master Chef Tamil: Season 1 and she took home a cash prize of Rs 25 Lakhs, along with a golden chef coat.

The dishes prepared by the contestants were judged by three people - Chef Aarthi Sampath, Chef Koushik Shankar, and Chef Harish Rao and all three of them were straightforward in putting their points out.

Following the success of the first season, the next edition of Master Chef Tamil is all set to begin. Excited? Yes! The second season of Master Chef Tamil has been officially announced and the makers have the show have now requested the interested candidates to apply for the position. The audition for the contestants of Master Chef Tamil: Season 2 is underway and the interested people can apply on their official website. It looks like the second season is set to begin very soon without any break.

Talking about the second season in an official statement, Saravana Prasad, the producer of the show said, "We are elated to announce the second season of MasterChef Tamil. With the first season becoming an instant hit amongst Tamil diaspora across the globe, I am confident that the second season will definitely create more benchmarks further in the culinary reality show space. We are expecting a horde of talents to showcase their culinary skills and take our show to newer heights as the auditions begin today". We will also have to wait for a few more weeks to see if Vijay Sethupathi will continue as the host or if there will be any replacement. Stay tuned.
