Earlier this evening (August 6), acclaimed cinematographer Ravi Varman shared a new unseen picture from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan and the picture has turned viral among the fans. Ravi Varman is the cinematographer of Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam, and the film has got high expectations. Ravi Varman shared a silhouette picture of him along with Karthi on the horse and the picture looks strikingly impressive. Sharing the picture on his official Instagram page, Ravi Varman wrote, "#ps1 @karthi_offl #picoftheday #photography #photooftheday #selfie #shotoniphone".

The picture has been doingrounds rounds on social media since this evening. Ponniyin Selvan has Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles and among them, Vikram and Jayam Ravi would be playing Aditya Karikalan and Ponniyin Selvan (aka) Arun Mozhi Varman while Karthi would be playing Vanthiya Thevan. Trisha would be essaying the character of Kundhavai while Aishwarya Rai would be playing the antagonist, Nandhini.

The supporting cast of the film features an ensemble list that includes the likes of Sarath Kumar, R Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Rahman, Aadukalam Kishore, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Chidambaram, Jaya Chitra, Mohan Raman, Ashwin Kakumanu, Riyaz Khan, and others. The film will have a grand theatrical release on September 30 on a wide range of screens and the fans are eagerly looking forward to the d-day. Produced by Lyca Productions on a lavish scale in association with Madras Talkies, the film will release in 5 languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

The film will have music composed by A.R.Rahman and the legendary composer's first single, titled Ponni Nadhi, has emerged as a hit number already and the fans are waiting to hear the rest of the songs from the album. The screenplay of the film is penned by Elango Kumaravel, Mani Ratnam, and Siva Ananth while the dialogues are penned by Jeyamohan.
