The movie which released in theatres on September 30, opened to highly positive reviews from the critics and general audience and it is having a dream run at the box office. This momentum will continue atleast for the next few days, until the Diwali weekend. That being said, a breaking update on the box office collections of the Mani Ratnam directorial has been revealed and it has garnered wide attention on social media. Yes! Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 has made a humongous box office collection of 400 crores at the worldwide box office and with this PS has crossed another milestone.

Kamal Haasan's Vikram collected close to 450 crores at the worldwide box office and Tamil cinema has delivered one more film that has touched the 400 crore mark. These huge numbers indeed tell us the worldwide popularity of the film and this update has set the fans delighted. Ponniyin Selvan has the potential to touch the 500 crore mark as well and let us keep our fingers crossed until then. Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles and has music composed by A.R.Rahman.

Based on the cult classic historical novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, the screenplay adaptation for the film has been done by Elango Kumaravel, Jeyamohan, and Mani Ratnam. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions in association with Rowdy Pictures, the film has cinematography handled by Ravi Varman and editing taken care of by Sreekar Prasad. The second part of Ponniyin Selvan is getting ready and the post production works are expected to start very soon. PS 2 is tentatively scheduled to release in theatres during the summer of 2023.
