The much-awaited censor related updates regarding Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan are out and here is what you need to know. The first part of Ponniyin Selvan, PS 1 has cleared the censor test and has been given a U/A certificate by the CBFC. The final theatrical version has been locked with a runtime of 167 minutes (2 hours 47 minutes). It was earlier speculated that the film runs for close to 3 hours, but the official update has now been revealed and the film will run for 167 minutes. Ponniyin Selvan is all set for a mega grand theatrical release on September 30 and the film will have a pan Indian release in 5 different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

The team of Ponniyin Selvan is travelling around multiple cities for the promotions of the film and the social media promotions are also happening in full swing. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be releasing in May or June 2023. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has music composed by A.R.Rahman whose songs have turned out to be big chartbusters among the masses. Ravi Varman has handled the cinematography and the ace lensman's work has already garnered wide attention through the trailer; his work is going to be a visual treat for film buffs.

Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles and among them, Vikram and Ravi would be playing the characters of Aditha Karikalan and Arun Mozhi Varman respectively. Karthi plays Vanthiya Thevan while Aishwarya Rai and Trisha play Nandini and Kundhavai respectively. Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Lal, Jayaram, Parthiban, Sarath Kumar, Jaya Chitra, Arjun Chidambaram, Rahman, Riyaz Khan, Kishore, Sarah Arjun, and others form the supporting cast.
