Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most expected films of this year and we are inching closer towards the d-day. Ponniyin Selvan is slated to hit the screens on September 30 and the film will have a pan Indian release in 5 languages - Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. The film has been made into two parts and the first part, PS 1 will be hitting the screens on the said date. Details regarding the release plans of the second part are yet to be known. The post production works are happening in full swing and is right on track for the release on September 30.

That being said, a new update on the film has now surfaced on social media and the update has garnered attention. The Dolby Atmos final mix for the music of Ponniyin Selvan has been completed and the update was shared by famous Hollywood sound designer Greg Townley. The acclaimed designer who is known for mixing trailer music for films like 1917, Dune, Avengers: Endgame, Interstellar, Blade Runner 2049, took to his official Instagram page to mention that he has wrapped the Dolby Atmos mixing for the music of PS 1. Sharing a picture of him from the studio, Greg wrote, "Just wrapped mixing the music for a film with A.R. Rahman in Atmos:) @arrahman".

The first single from the film titled 'Ponni Nadhi' released last week and it opened to a favourable response from the audience. The second single is expected to release around the third week of August. Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles, while the supporting cast includes several prominent names including the likes of R Sarath Kumar, R Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwin Kakumanu, Jayaram, Lal, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman, and others.
