Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 released on September 30 amidst huge expectations and it has been three weeks since the film's release. This historical epic took the box office by storm, creating sensational records worldwide. Ponniyin Selvan has collected more than 450 crores from its worldwide box office and has also grossed more than 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. Ponniyin Selvan has become one of the biggest ever blockbusters in the history of Tamil cinema and has turned out to be a humongous win. With the film having a successful run at the box office, the makers have now released a new BTS video in which we see the editor of the film, Sreekar Prasad, explaining in detail about how the climax boat fight sequence was planned and shot.

Talking about it, he says, "The climax boat sequence is something which can be imagined but not so easy to execute. When Mani Ratnam told me the idea, I was wondering how it could be done. Everything is happening in the middle of the sea, there is storm, there is rain, there are fighters, there is action, and a lot is happening. The sequence was huge right from the ideation stage itself. Since this was the climax of the film, we wanted to end it on a high". He also went about talking on how the sequence was shot and edited. We also get to see some interesting BTS visuals which transport us to the making of the sequence.

Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles and has music composed by A.R.Rahman. With the first part turning out to be a huge hit, all eyes are now on the second part which is scheduled to release in theatres during the summer of 2023.
