Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is slated for its grand theatrical release on September 30 and we have officially entered the PS-1 month today. Ponniyin Selvan will have a pan Indian release in 5 languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi and it is expected to take a huge opening at the box office. Earlier today (September 1), the makers officially released the character introduction poster of the supporting actors and as a start, the character details of Sarath Kumar and Parthiban have been revealed. Sarath Kumar will be essaying the character of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar while R Parthiban will be playing his younger brother, Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar.

Both of them are experienced actors and they are sure to add more value to the film with their earnest performances. The introduction of other characters are expected to follow suit this week. Meanwhile, the grand audio and trailer launch event of Ponniyin Selvan is all set to take place on September 6 and it will happen at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The entire cast and crew of PS 1 will be in attendance for the audio launch event and exciting surprises have been planned for the fans. Two songs have been released so far - 'Ponni Nadhi' and 'Chola Chola' and the rest of the songs will be released on the 6th.

Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles while the supporting cast includes the likes of Parthiban, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Riyaz Khan, Jaya Chitra, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarah Arjun, and others. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has cinematography handled by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Jeyamohan has penned the dialogues for the film that is based on the historical novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
