Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is slated for its theatrical release on September 30 and the fans are eagerly looking forward to the d-day. The film will be released in 5 languages across the globe - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam and the post production works are happening in full swing to make the film arrive in theatres on time. Ponniyin Selvan is directed by Mani Ratnam and this one is one of his most ambitious projects, that has been mounted on a grand scale under the production of Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.

Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan play the lead roles in the film and among them, Vikram and Karthi would be playing Aditya Karikalan and Vanthiya Thevan respectively. Aishwarya Rai will be playing the antagonist - Nandini, while Trisha and Jayam Ravi would be playing Kundhavai and Arun Mozhi Varman respectively. The makers have been revealing character look posters of the supporting cast on a daily basis and today (September 4), details regarding three of the supporting characters have been known.

Ace actor Prakash Raj will be seen playing Sundara Chozhar, the father character of the three leads - Aditya Karikalan (Vikram), Arun Mozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), and Kundhavai (Trisha). Jaya Chitra will be playing Sembiyan Mahadevi (aka) Periya Piratti, while Rahman would be essaying the character of Madhurantakan. More characters would be unveiled in the next two days. Ponniyin Selvan has music composed by A.R.Rahman and the legendary composer has already delivered two chartbuster hit songs - 'Ponni Nadhi' and 'Chola Chola'.

The rest of the songs would be released on the 6th of September through a grand audio launch event which is to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The trailer of the film will also be released on the same day and the fans have pinned high hopes on the same.
