The official trailer of the highly anticipated movie Puzhu starring Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead is finally out. The film's trailer was released on Sunday (May 1) by its makers through the official social media handles of the cast and crew members as well as via YouTube. Going by the film's trailer, it is evident that this directorial by debutant Ratheena is truly going to be a dark and mysterious one.

The trailer of Puzhu which plays out for just over a minute reveals nothing about the plot but introduces the viewers to the central character played by Mammootty and his young son. It starts with the father being seen teaching his son precisely how to brush which the kid then tries to replicate the same way. Acts as simple as that or just greeting one another with a "good evening" somehow gives an eerie-ness in the trailer of Puzhu.

Mammootty appears to play the disciplinary helicopter father to a little boy who seems to be quite afraid of the man. We see a family picture of Mammootty, the child, and Athmeeya Rajan on the wall that the boy shoots his arrow gun aiming straight at his father's face in the photo. Amidst all this, there is an atmosphere of danger lurking around as someone is talking about an accident and a murder attempt. Throughout the trailer, Mammootty’s character seems to be in constant doubt or even regret something he may have done in the past.

The upcoming is produced by S. George with Theni Eswar handling the film's cinematography and Jakes Bejoy composing the film score and songs. The film was scheduled earlier to release in theatres sometime during the first half of 2022. But it was later announced that the film would be skipping the theatrical release and would instead go for a direct-to-streaming release on the SonyLIV streaming platform. It will be made available to watch worldwide on 13 May 2022 in 5 languages namely Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
