We have often seen regional films reach out to people internationally and get loads of acclaims. This time it’s none other than Jyothika’s Raatchasi that has touched the Malaysian education minister Maszlee Malik. In a note on Twitter he wrote that the film is a ‘must-watch’ and that the film portrayed the situation in their country as well. He wrote, “Two months ago, this movie came out. Last night, I watched it with the officials. I will write an article to review this movie. For sure, this movie is a must-watch. The story is amazing. The character is perfect. It feels different to watch (the film) as minister of education. Every scene reflects the situation in our country.”

He then went on to talk about Jyothika’s character and said, “Geetha Rani is a very great superhero; she proves to us that the big change is not impossible. There are so many policies and changes that we are planning to do have been successfully described in this film, like the PSP initiative (free breakfast programme). This movie translates my aspirations that are more than just food… I would like to see teachers sit and eat together with our children. They’ve also addressed the issue of students dropping out of school Geetha has successfully involved all parties to overcome this issue, including the police. This is what we are working on. We want to make sure that ‘enforcement’ is happening all over the corner so that no child has to drop out. That's not all. Geetha also met all the students’ parents and built a kind of parent and community association to make sure these parents are actively involved in their children's education.”

He ended the note by saying that making education a collective vision of all parties is one among his greatest wishes. He also wrote, “I recommend all educators, parents, students and others this movie.” This sure is a very proud moment for Jyothika and the rest of the Raatchasi team!
