Actor Madhavan made an astonishing return to Tamil cinema in 2016 with the sports drama Irudhi Suttru, which was also made in Hindi as Saala Khadoos.

Maddy then went on to star in one of the biggest blockbusters of last year, Vikram Vedha.

The film, which saw him co-star with 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi alongside Shraddha Srinath and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar under the direction of Pushkar-Gayatri and produced by Y Not Studios went on to become one of the biggest successes in his career.

Ever since Vikram Vedha came out, there has been speculation on whether the gangster action drama will be remade in other languages.

For sometime now, there were reports stating 'Bollywood Baadhshah' Shah Rukh Khan was interested in the remake of the film.

Now, Madhavan during the trailer launch of his upcoming web series, Breathe, confirmed a Vikram Vedha remake is indeed in the works and that it would go on floors later this year.

As for who would be playing the lead, Maddy stated he’s quite not sure about reprising his role again in the remake and that he doesn’t yet know on who will be playing Vijay Sethupathi’s character.

Breathe will go live on streaming on Amazon starting January 26. He will next be seen in the Telugu film, Savyasachi, starring Naga Chaitanya, Chanda Mama Door Ke in Hindi with Sushant Singh Rajput and is also holding talks to work with Kalavani director Sarkunam for an action adventure film set amidst a jungle backdrop.
