Madarasapattinam completes 50 days

Director Vijay's historic film Madarasapattinam (also spelt as Madrasapattinam, Madhrasapattinam), starring Arya and Amy Jackson in the lead roles, has completed 50 days in seven screens across Chennai and continues to be housefull during weekends!

The film is the revolutionary love story of a Madrasi boy and a British girl set in the pre-Independence era. Vijay, who directed Kireedam (Ajith) and Poi Solla Porom, has wielded the megaphone for this beautiful love story produced by Kalpathi Agoram. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer. The film is set in Madras of the 1940s and takes place in Washermanpet. It’s a story of a dhobi who also happens to be a wrestling champ. Vijay has also roped in many foreign actors to give the British feel, including Amy Jackson, a Miss World Teen, to play Arya's love interest in the film.

Director Vijay attributed the success of the film to team work. "The entire team --�lead artistes Arya and Amy, cinematographer Nirav Shah, music director G.V. Prakash, production designer Selva Kumar, editor Anthony and above all my producer Kalpathi Agoram --�made the film a hit. My contribution was my script which struck a chord as we gelled as a team," he said.
