In a shocking turn of events, director M Thiyagarajan was found dead, earlier this morning (December 8) at Vadapalani, Chennai. Director Thiyagarajan was found lying dead on the road, on the opposite side of AVM Studios during the morning hours of Wednesday. The cause of death is yet to be known and further details are awaited. It is said that Thiyagarajan was facing financial hurdles due to the Covid 19 situation which also resulted in ill-health. This incident has sent shock waves in the industry and condolence messages have been pouring in from all quarters.

At this moment, Galatta Media expresses heartfelt condolences to Thiyagarajan's family and friends and prays for the departed soul to rest in peace. According to reports, Thiyagarajan's mortal remains is expected to be sent to his native place.

M Thiyagarajan will be best known for directing Captain Vijayakanth's blockbuster hit film, Maanagara Kaaval. The film was produced by AVM Productions and it was the esteemed company's landmark 150th film. Maanagara Kaaval featured Vijayakanth as a Police officer and his performance managed to strike a chord with the audience. The film featured Suma as the female lead, while the supporting cast included MN Nambiar, Nassar, Lakshmi, Vaishnavi, Anandaraj, Dubbing Janaki, Senthil, Thiyagu, Chinni Jayanth, Ponnambalam, and others.

Directed by M Thiyagarajan, Maanagara Kaaval had cinematography by Shiva and editing by G Jayachandran. Chandrabose composed music for this action entertainer. SP Balasubrahmanyam, KJ Yesudas, KS Chithra, SP Sailaja had lent their voices for the songs in the movie and the lyrics for the songs were penned by Vaali. Apart from Maanagara Kaaval, Thiyagarajan directed the Prabhu - Seetha starrer Vetri Mel Vetri.
