Blockbuster Tamil film director Lokesh Kanagaraj took part in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup India vs England semifinals match on Thursday, November 10, to announce the title of radio jockey turned actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji's next film, Singapore Saloon. Appearing in the commentary box on the Star Sports Tamil channel, the filmmaker was asked about the one Indian cricketer whom he would like to cast in the 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe' (LCU). Responding to the query, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed that former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is his favorite player and added that he would introduce the cricket superstar to the LCU.

The 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe' was first officially coined after 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Vikram was released earlier this year and hinted at a strong connection with the story in Karthi's 2019 box office money-spinner Kaithi. Vikram had several scenes hinting at multiple characters from Kaithi, which left fans both surprised and excited, with Lokesh Kanagaraj since then stating that there is a bigger story in the LCU, with Fahadh Faasil as Agent Amar, the commander of the black-ops squad, and Suriya as a mafia kingpin named Rolex also playing a huge role in the proceedings. With Karthi once again reprising his role as Dilli for Kaithi 2 next year, there are huge expectations that fans will be getting to witness more in the 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe'.

As for his next big film, Lokesh Kanagaraj is set to reunite with Vijay for the highly-anticipated Thalapathy 67 after their 2021 mass hit, Master, with an announcement now eagerly being awaited by Tamil cinema fans everywhere. The upcoming film has been one of the most debated ventures in recent times and is expected to be formally announced this December by producer Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios banner. The buzz for Thalapathy 67 has been huge as it has been stated that it will be an intense gangster action film and fans are now waiting for the big official announcement.
