Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger was released in theatres yesterday (August 25) after a massive promotional campaign that they had embarked on across the country. After much hype and anticipation around it, the film opened to mixed reviews from fans and critics alike as well as the general public. 

Liger has grossed 33.12 crores on its opening day worldwide in all languages. Given the ever-increasing fan following of Vijay Deverakonda, the film has taken a thunderous start. It’s huge attainment that the movie was released on a weekday to gross a massive 33.12 crores on the first day. 

The official Twitter handle of one of the film's producers, Puri Connects, shared the worldwide gross collection from Day 1 of the Puri Jagannadh film. This includes the film’s overall collection from all across the world, in all languages. Liger released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. However, the makers did not share how much the film had made in specific regions. The sports based action film has been written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. Vijay Deverakonda stars in the titular role as an MMA fighter boxer alongside Ananya Panday as the female lead while Ramya Krishna and Ronit Roy can be seen in pivotal roles. American boxing legend Mike Tyson too plays an extended cameo in the film, thus marking his acting debut in Indian cinema.
