Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on the morning hours of Sunday, February 6, and she was 92 when she breathed her last. Lata Mangeshkar tested positive for Covid 19 at the beginning of January 2022 and she was admitted to the ICU ward of the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. Lata Mangeshkar battled pneumonia along with Coronavirus. Though she tested negative for Covid 19 after a few days of hospitalization, she was not moved out of the ICU ward because of other health complications. Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating Lata Mangeshkar at the Breach Candy Hospital, officially confirmed the legend's death, this morning.

Addressing the media, Dr Pratit said, "It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8.12 AM. She has died because of multi organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalization post Covid 19". Lata Mangeshkar's death will definitely leave a big void in the Indian music industry, calling it the end of an era. Several notable film personalities, political leaders, sportspersons, and television stars have extended their heartfelt condolences to Lata Mangeshkar on their respective social media pages.

Though Lata Mangeshkar has left for her heavenly abode, her magical songs will continue to touch our hearts and stay close, as always. Lata Mangeshkar was fondly called the Nightingale of India for her beautiful voice that melted the hearts of people. Lata Mangeshkar is the recipient of India's highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, which was conferred upon her in 2001. Lata Mangeshkar has recorded songs in over 36 languages and has various accolades to her credit. She is a recipient of 3 National Film Awards.
