American actor Ned Eisenberg, best known for playing the role of Roger Kressler on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, passed away on Sunday at his home in New York. He was 65. The news of his death was confirmed by his agents at Nicolosi & Co. on Monday. Eisenberg, who also played Detective Hauser in Kate Winslet's miniseries Mare of Easttown, had been battling two forms of cancer before his death - cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. His wife actress Patricia Dunnock said in a statement, "As Ned would say, he was attacked by two very rare assassins — cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. Over the course of two years, he bravely fought the cancers in private while continuing to work in show business to ensure that his medical coverage paid for himself and his family." Eisenberg is survived by his wife, Patricia, and son, Lino Eisenberg. 

Born in the Bronx, Eisenberg began his career in theater in Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs after completing his studies at the High School of Music and Art. He later landed Broadway roles in Julie Taymor's The Green Bird, Awake and Sing!, Rocky, Golden Boy, including the recent revival of Six Degrees of Separation. Eisenberg also appeared in lead roles at notable theaters that included the New York City Center, Second Stage and Ensemble Studio Theatre, Theatre for a New Audience, The Vineyard, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. In 1987, he co-founded the Naked Angels Theatre Company in New York. 

Eisenberg has also featured in notable films that include Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby in which he played the role of Sally Mendoza, while also being cast as photographer Joe Rosenthal in Flags of Our Fathers. Some other notable film appearances include Limitless, The Burning, Primary Colors, Last Man Standing, World Trade Center, Asher, Moving Violations, Won’t Back Down, A Civil Action, Experimenter, The Exterminator, and Air America. He became a prominent name on the television circuit landing roles on shows like The Fanelli Boys, The Night Of, Person of Interest, The Black Donnellys, including Law & Order and Mare of Easttown. Eisenberg also guest-starred on shows like 30 Rock, The Good Wife, The Plot Against America, White Collar, New Amsterdam, The Blacklist, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bull, The Big C, Elementary, and Madam Secretary.
