Lakshmi Rai returns

With the release of Minchina Ota, Lakshmi Rai, who did not have much luck in Kannada films before, is back on the track to stardom. Although Lakshmi is considered one of the most beautiful girls in South Indian cinema, she did not get many opportunities to prove her mettle in a career spanning four years.

Though a Kannadiga, she could not manage to get any roles after Valmiki and her stint with Tamil cinema has been filled with controversies and rumours. But Lakshmi is on a roll now. Her Kannada film Minchina Ota, where she is paired with Vijaya Raghavendra and Sri Murali, is running successfully; in Malayalam, her film Paruthu with Mammootty has just released. She is currently acting in Dhaam Dhoom (Tamil) opposite Jayam Ravi.

Moreover, she is doing Hey Gujju, a Bollywood project with Himesha Reshammiya. She has already participated in the shooting of two songs for the film and is all praise for Reshammiya. “He is one of the most down to earth people I have ever met,” she reportedly said. In the film she plays a tomboy character in the first half who later transforms in to a soft spoken girl.

Lakshmi Rai, who took a break from movies for lack of opportunities, gives credit for her comeback to a coffee ad she appeared in. This ad got noticed and she began getting new opportunities.

It seems Lakshmi Rai’s bad patch is over and happy days are here again.
