Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi's 'Inbox 1305'

Landmark, India’s leading book and music store today launched an exciting lifestyle magazine 'Inbox 1305'.

Conceived and established by a true-blue Chennaiite, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the name is inspired by Chennai’s coordinates: latitude 13 degrees 5’ N. Of course, no one exists today without checking their inboxes at least once a day. So there you have it: Inbox1305. According to her, “‘Did you check your inbox?’ is a common question and nobody can afford not to have an email ID. As our magazine covers all aspects of Chennai, our title suggests that no one can afford to miss out on our monthly magazine.”

What’s so unique about 'Inbox 1305' apart from the title is, of course, the editor-in-chief of the magazine. A member of Tamil Nadu’s first family, Kiruthiga is wife of Udhayanidhi, producer (Kuruvi was his debut) and daughter-in-law of M.K. Stalin. It’s a first for this illustrious family, known to make their marks in the fine arts. M. Karunanidhi leads the clan with his many literary works, the latest of which is the Tamil film, Ulliyin Osai, for which he wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues. Kanimozhi, Karunanidhi’s daughter, is a poetess, journalist and politician to boot.

Following this illustrious tradition comes Kiruthiga. Unusually, this lady from the state’s first family has made her foray with an English language magazine. With an esoteric collection of subjects, ranging from sports, people, fashion, travel, adventure and… (don’t forget food) no Chennai-centric magazine would be complete without something dedicated to that subject. Starting off with a bang, the first issue of this monthly mag features Padmashree Kamal Haasan.

People who have made Chennai their home and who add to its distinctive flavour are on board this fascinating new lifestyle magazine. Writers like L. Sivaramakrishnan (cricketer), Kiruba Shankar (IT expert & blogger), Sabita Radhkrishnan (designer & author), Sashikanth (architect, Space Scape), team Style Mantra and Dr. S.M. Balaji (dentist) are just a few among the illustrious contributors for this magazine.

Thotta Tharani, National Award winning art director and Tishani Doshi, critically acclaimed writer and poet, were the chief guests for the inauguration of this brainchild of Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi.

The magazine is priced at Rs. 25, and will be available at Landmark and other bookstores.
