Viruman marks Karthi's return to a rural backdrop film after Kadaikutty Singam and is also the first occasion the actor has collaborated with a director for the second time after he previously worked with Muthaiah in Komban in 2015. The film also marks the acting debut of ace filmmaker Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar as the female lead and the response for her performance has been stunning. Viruman also includes a stellar ensemble cast featuring the likes of Prakash Raj, Raj Kiran, Soori, RK Suresh, Manoj Bharathiraja, Vadivukkarasi, among others, with music by chart-buster composer Yuvan Shankar Raja.
