Karthi's Sardar is set for its release this Friday, October 21, and the fans are eagerly looking forward to watching the film in the theatres. Sardar is directed by PS Mithran who has already made movies like Irumbu Thirai and Hero. The teaser and trailer of Sardar have shown enough promise and it looks like an intriguing spy thriller is on its way to hit the screens this Diwali. Meanwhile, Karthi has been actively promoting the film and as part of the promotions, we at Galatta Media got in touch with the star actor for an exclusive interview. During the interview, Karthi was asked if Sardar has any shades or inspirations drawn from the yesteryear classic, Oru Kaidhiyin Diary.

However, Karthi clarified that the film doesn't have any traces of the Bharathiraja directorial, adding that they were very clear about not making the audience feel the Deja Vu. Talking about it, he said, "Naturally, when it is a father-son story set in the action zone, these thoughts tend to happen. But, we have made the film without any such traces. In fact, we tried our best to avoid the double action, but couldn't. The story demanded the father-son angle and there was a need to hold the story from both sides. So, we went ahead with the double action.

No one would obviously want their film to be compared to another film. It wouldn't feel right for the filmmaker. The writing process itself took place for a span of 2 years for Sardar and we would obviously not want those efforts to be easily compared to another film. We have made the film without any traces of any other film and there is no such connection or inspiration".

Sardar features Karthi in the lead role and this is his third release of this year after Viruman and Ponniyin Selvan. Sardar features Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan as the female leads.
