Karthi is on cloud nine these days after all three of his big films released this year have turned out to be phenomenal box-office successes. With 2022 a memorable year for the leading Tamil actor, he has now surprised Tamil cinema fans by appearing in a promo as part of the WWE promotions, which shows him tag-teaming with popular wrestler Drew McIntyre to deliver the big smack-down on a bunch of bank robbers. In the acto-packed WWE promo, we see masked robbers attempting to rob a bank at gunpoint when the manager presses the security alarm button, and Karthi and Drew McIntyre then jump to the rescue instead of the police.

The WWE promo is comic in tone for the most part, but Karthi looks built like a wrestler and it is a different experience witnessing him alongside a professional wrestler like Drew McIntyre, who's a global superstar. Karthi is appearing in the Tamil and Telugu versions of the promo, while Bollywood star John Abraham is seen in the Hindi edition. This latest promo is part of a new campaign to expand the WWE fan following in India. Speaking at a press conference about the Indian WWE fanbase, Drew McIntyre opened up on his experiences filming for the Sony Sports Network production and said, "The passion of our fans in India is just extraordinary and this country has surpassed all my wildest expectations. Working with Karthi and John Abraham and the talented team at Sony Sports Network has been awesome. These actors are amongst the humblest human beings I have ever come across. Perhaps this is phase one of Drew McIntyre’s movie career in India."
Meanwhile, Karthi, on the work front, has had a spectacular 2022 with three back-to-back box office blockbusters starting with the rural entertainer Viruman, followed by Mani Ratnam's epic historical action film Ponniyin Selvan: 1, and the espionage thriller Sardar. The actor is currently filming for the upcoming Japan under Joker fame Raju Murugan's direction and will be seen once again as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan in Ponniyin Selvan: 2, which is set for a summer 2023 release. He also has in his lineup Sardar 2, which will reunite him with filmmaker PS Mithran and Kaithi 2 under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction.
