Blockbuster South Indian films producer-distributor Kalaipuli S. Thanu has contributed a sum of ₹1 Crore to National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran's International Institute of Film and Culture (IIFC) towards the screen culture laboratory, which had its inaugural function held recently. The reputed producer handed the sum the Vetri Maaran's mother Meghala Chithravel and announced that the ace director would select students from his institute and he/she will be provided the opportunity to direct a film under his V Creations banner.

An official press release states, "At the behest of director Vetri Maaran's IIFC Foundation, we have established a screen culture laboratory for students as an initiative for students coming from the socially and economically backward communities. As part of the process, entrance exams will be held for the students and authorities will pay a visit to their homes to confirm if they are marginalized." It further reads, "Once the verification is completed and if the students are enthusiastic about exhibiting their culture and struggle with the approval of their families, provisions like education, food, hostel accommodation have been made for them in order to facilitate them to become the best version of themselves in the industry."

Apart from Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Vetri Maaran, and his mother Meghala Chithravel, the event was also graced by Aarti Vetrimaaran, Vetri Duraisamy, and Father Raja Nayagam (Former Professor, Loyola College), who will be serving as trustees of the Foundation. On the work front, Vetri Maaran is set to begin production work on his next, Vaadivaasal, under Kalaipuli Thanu's V Creations banner and will star Suriya in the lead role. The upcoming film is an adaptation of reputed Tamil writer Si Su Sellappa's novel of the same name and the story will revolve extensively around Suriya and a bull. Vaadivaasal is the second collaboration for Vetri Maaran and Kalaipuli Thanu after their Asuran in 2020, which went on to become a huge box office blockbuster and also garnered huge critical acclaim.
