Leading Tamil hero Jiiva has carved a niche for himself over the years as a credible performer and will next be joining hands with popular comedy actor 'Mirchi' Shiva of the Chennai 600028 franchise fame for a new film titled Golmaal, which was launched on Sunday. The duo will be sharing screen space once again after the blockbuster success of Sundar. C's Kalakalappu 2 in 2018 and the upcoming Golmaal being produced Vinod Jain and Naresh Jain's Jaguar Studios will be directed by Pon Kumaran, who is known for penning the story and dialogues in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Lingaa

Golmaal will see Jiiva and Shiva paired opposite popular South Indian actresses Payal Rajput and Tanya Hope, who have become a huge sensation among the youth over the past couple of years. The film was launched with the main cast and crew addressing media persons during a formal press meet today, which also saw veteran producer RB Choudhary, Dr. G. Dhananjayan, composer turned actor Vijay Antony, actors Manobala, George, Subbu Panchu, Aadukalam Naren, singer Mano, actress Sonia Aggarwal, Kannada composer Sadhu Kokila as well gracing the event. 

Outside of his work on Rajinikanth's Lingaa as the dialogue and story writer, Pon Kumaran has already established himself as a filmmaker in the Kannada film industry. During the Golmaal press meet, it was announced that the film will be shot in a single schedule completely in Mauritius. Talking about the film, Pon Kumaran revealed that he decided to make a direct Tamil project during the pandemic and initially planned to do a horror comedy, but was convinced by the producers to go forward with a full-length comedy venture. He revealed that Jiiva and Shiva were his first choices for Golmaal and the duo have helped him in developing the script as well. Jiiva stated that he is happy to associate with Shiva once again after they first bonded from street cricket to the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) and then in Kalakalappu 2. He added that the upcoming Golmaal has the potential to be made as a franchise, with Shiva as well extending his hope for sequels.
