Director Ahmed has done movies that go away from the commercial route but because of their unique approach, they may not have succeeded so well at the box office. Right from his first movie Vaamanan to Endrendrum Punnagai and Manidhan with Udhayanidhi Stalin, the director had carved a niche for himself.

Unabated by the failure so far, the director Ahmed will work with Jayam Ravi next. However, shooting may not begin immediately as the star is still busy with Tik Tik Tik and the upcoming huge project Sangamithra with Sundar C.
