Anyone who is familiar with James Cameron's 2009 epic science fiction film Avatar, have been eagerly waiting for its sequels ever since. The films that were earlier slated for release in 2015 has been long-awaited and highly anticipated by movie lovers and the Avatars (loyal followers of James Cameron's wildly popular science fiction film). Finally, we are in 2022 with a confirmed release date to the first sequel (Avatar 2) of the franchise.

All we have got from the team of Avatar are a bunch of sourced information regarding the film and that is it. Other than that, the world has not come across a single thing from Avatar 2 which has only led to the fans getting riled up even more. But now as per certain reports, the teaser for the sequel for Avatar 2 is rumoured to be released along with the release of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Benedict Cumberbatch starrer sequel to the 2016 magical blockbuster Doctor Strange is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on May 6. 

The 2009 epic science film is the highest-grossing film of all time with worldwide box-office collections of above $2.8 billion. After its massive success, the filmmakers later announced four more sequels for the franchise. While Avatar 2 has been scheduled to release on December 16, 2022, the subsequent films will hit the big screen on 2024, 2026 and 2028 respectively.

Written and directed by James Cameron, the film will see Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, and CCH Pounder reprising their roles, as will Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald, despite the deaths of their characters in the first film. Cliff Curtis and Kate Winslet are new cast members who will be portraying members of the Na'vi reef people as Varang, a strong and vibrant central character who will span the entire saga of the sequels.
