An awards ceremony unlike any other the nation has witnessed in recent times, The Galatta Crown 2022, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on May 8, is unequivocally the biggest digital awards ceremony of the year and continues to be talked about for hosting superstars from across the country. Among the guests who graced the gala event, Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh fans had a delightful time as he took over the evening and made it a memorable occasion for everyone to remember. Likewise, the South Indian stars who made appearances at The Galatta Crown 2022 included Sivakarthikeyan, Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, Keerthy Suresh, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Nelson Dilipkumar, Boney Kapoor, Raghava Lawrence, Priyanka Mohan, SJ Suryah, T. J. Gnanavel, Pa Ranjith, Krithi Shetty, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, K. Manikandan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and many others leaving everyone delighted with their presence on the grand stage. 

One of the biggest highlights of The Galatta Crown 2022 was leading Tamil cinema names being bestowed with top honors for their skills and one among them was the award for Best Supporting Actor Male (2021-2022). The nominees included: 

1) K. Manikandan - Jai Bhim
2) Shabeer Kallarakkal - Sarpatta Parambarai
3) Pasupathy - Sarpatta Parambarai
4) Lal - Taanakaaran
5) Bharathiraja - Rocky

Among the nominees for the Best Supporting Actor Male (2021-2022) at The Galatta Crown 2022, actor K. Manikandan was adjudged as the winner and took home the honors for his performance as Rajakannu in Jai Bhim. Manikandan, who accepted his award from Indira Kandasamy, MD, Anjappar Group of Hotels, and actress Anupama Kumar of Sarpatta Parambarai fame, opened up on his experiences of taking up the role in Jai Bhim, while recreating a moment from the film and also delighting fans to an impersonation of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. 

During his winner's speech, Manikandan expressed his gratitude to director T. J. Gnanavel, actor-producer Suriya, Jyothika, Rajsekar Pandian, 2D Entertainment Co-Producer, and the entire cast and crew, including the people in the Irular tribe for believing in him to take up the Rajakannu role in Jai Bhim. With T. J. Gnanavel by his side, Manikandan said, "I was left with a deep impact after the Jai Bhim script narration and had requested to read it again. Upon reading the script once again, I felt I had to convey the same feeling to audiences by taking up the role and doing the film efficiently." Speaking about his experience of working with people in the Irular tribe, Manikandan said, "What we take for granted sometimes, they have been deprived of it for generations. At that time in my life, I was complaining despite having everything and I realized that for one to be happy, you don't need much."
