In a shocking incident, Tanzanian internet sensation Kili Paul was attacked with a knife and beaten with sticks by unknown individuals on Sunday. Known prominently among fans for lip-syncing to Indian songs, the Tanzanian social media star shared the news of the attack on his Instagram Stories. Informing followers about the attack, Kili said that he was attacked by five unknown individuals, while adding that he had received five stitches after the brawl. He wrote, "I was attacked by 5 people in the movement of defending myself my right-hand toe was injured by a knife and I got 5 stitches and I was beaten by sticks and clubs but thank god I defend myself after beating two people they run away but I was already injured pray for me (sic). This is scary."

Later, Kili once again took to his Instagram Stories and shared a video of him lying on a stretcher with his thumb wrapped in a bandage and injury marks around his legs. The viral content creator wrote, "People want me down but God will always take me up. Pray for me." As of now, there is no information on the attackers. Kili's Insta Story update has since been published as a short video on YouTube as well.

A popular TikTok star with more than 3.5 million followers, Kili has since garnered massive popularity in a quick time on Instagram as well with his followers count shooting up from 95k to 135k last year after he did a lip-sync for the 'Raatan Lambiyan' song from the Bollywood film Shershaah, which was later reposted by actress Kiara Advani, singer Jubin Nautiyal and composer Tanishk Bagchi. Kili was also honored by the Indian High Commission in Tanzania in February earlier this year.
