J.R.R. Tolkien's book, The Lord of the Rings, gained major popularity after Peter Jackson's film adaptation of it. Adding to that, it became even more popular after that when Game of Thrones came out as its author, George R.R. Martin, mentioned many times that his fantasy book/show was inspired by Tolkien's work. Since then, The Lord of the rings has gained strong traction and has amassed a vast audience and hardcore followers.

Nearly 19 years after the last visual adaptation of Rings, a new series is in the making. It will be a fresh canvas for the series, offering fans a glimpse of Tolkien's mythical Second Age for the first time. Titled The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the spinoff prequel show will premiere on 2 September 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.

With the trailer already out, fans have been waiting to jump back into Middle Earth and set camp there. And in this world, orcs play a major role and are considered to be one of the main elements present. IGN has revealed a series of photos from the new Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, this time showing off the “new and unimproved” Orcs of this age. And for once, worse is actually better here. It is evident that the Orcs in the Rings of Power will be much fresher than the battle-scarred versions shown in Peter Jackon's trilogy.

In conversation with Lindsey Weber, the executive producer of the show, she said, “We spent a lot of time talking about what it would mean to be an Orc in the Second Age. It felt appropriate that their look would be different, part of a wilder, more raw, Second Age, Middle-earth, closer to where the First Age ends. As we meet them, they’re not yet organized into armies, they’re a little more scattered and they’ve been scavenging. So it’s just a different time in their total story.”
