In a tragic piece of news, Dharmesh Parmar, popularly known by his stage/rapper name MC Tod Fod, of Gully Boy fame among others recently passed away on March 21 at a very young age, 24. Swadesi’s label Azadi Records and management company 4/4 Entertainment confirmed the news. The young rapper's unexpected death sent shockwaves among the masses, especially followers of the Indian hip-hop genre and also the artist's own fans. While no official statement has been released by his close ones or his Swadesi yet, an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of his death.

He was a Gujarati rapper who belonged to the Mumbai based multilingual hip-hop group, Swadesi. Dharmesh has lived his whole life in Naigaon in Dadar and grew up on a steady diet of old Bollywood songs, bhajans, and Bhim geet. The rapper had lent his voice to the song 'India 91' for Gully Boy. Director Zoya Akhtar and actors Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi mourned the rapper's tragic and untimely demise. Ranveer shared a picture of the rapper on his Instagram stories and added a broken heart emoticon, while Siddhant shared a screenshot of his conversation with the late Gujarati rapper, in which the two appreciate and applaud each other for their respective music and performances. He wrote, "RIP bhai," along with a broken-heart emoticon. Zoya Akhtar shared a picture of Tod Fod along with a caption that read, "You have gone way too soon. Known for his hard-hitting verses, Tod Fod's verses on songs like 'The Warli Revolt' became very hugely popular. It sprung the young MC Tod Fod was sprung into the limelight and he emerged as a voice that fought for the environment and human rights. He was a part of several singles, including 'Plandemic'. His most recent single was 'Truth and Bass' which was released on March 8.
