Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon's birthday today (February 25) just got bigger as the Pathu Thala team has now shared a surprise treat for his ardent fan following. Produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green banner in association with Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios, the upcoming film starring Silambarasan TR in the lead role as AGR, an underworld gangster, will also see GVM as the antagonist, with the makers unveiling a special birthday wishes poster for the iconic director. This is the first time Gautham Menon's look in Pathu Thala has been revealed and we can be sure he will be coming out all guns blazing on the opposite of STR when the film hits theatres worldwide on March 30. There is massive excitement surrounding Pathu Thala ever since it was revealed that Gautham Menon is also a part of the Simbu-starrer as the duo have proven to be a blockbuster combo in their previous collaborations. Earlier, STR had worked under GVM's direction in films like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016), and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part:1 (2022), which featured music by Academy Award-winning music composer A. R. Rahman, who is also churning out the tunes and the background score for Pathu Thala.
Pathu Thala is a remake of the 2017 Kannada hit film, Mufti, directed by Narthan and featured superstar Dr. Shivarajkumar and Srimurali in the lead roles. The Tamil version has Gautham Karthik playing a cop, while Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam, Redin Kingsley, Manushyaputhiran, Anu Sithara will be seen in major supporting roles. With only a month away for Pathu Thala's release, there are plans for a grand audio launch up next in the days ahead as fans look forward to listening to A. R. Rahman's magic in the album after the composer delivered the chart-topping hit 'Namma Satham' as a birthday treat for Silambarasan earlier this month.
