Dr. Jayasudha, Ph.D.

Veteran South Indian actress Jayasudha, who debuted with the Telugu film Pandanti Kapuram (1972) at�age 12 and acted in over 275 films in all languages, has been conferred with Honorary Doctorate by Andhra Pradesh Open University, also known as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University of Hyderabad.

During her career spanning nearly 38 years, Jayasudha has won numerous awards, including 9 Nandi Awards for the best actress for Jyothi (1975), Amekatha (1977), Idi Katha Kadu (1979), Premabishekam (1981), Meghasandesam (1982) and Dharmatmudu (1983) and Filmfare Award for the best supporting actress for Amma Naana O Tamil Ammayi (2004).

Jayasudha is�famoud for her riveting performance and has acted as heroine with all top actors of her time, including Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, ANR, NTR, Krishna and many others. She is considered the top actress for mother roles at present. Jayasudha recently won laurels for her portrayal as a mother in Bommarillu.

Meanwhile, it is heard that Jayasudha may contest from Secunderabad assembly constituency in the forthcoming polls. She is currently�the heroine of Neramu Shiksha (under production) opposite superstar Krishna. Directed and produced by Vijaya Nirmala under the banner of Vijayakrishna Movies, Neramu Shiksha is Krishna's 333rd film. The film was launched at Annapurna Studios on January 21, 2009.
