Divya Sathyaraj, Celebrity nutritionist and daughter of legendary actor Sathyaraj conducted a campaign to raise awareness about the use of food items that contain MSG (monosodium Glutamate).

“The use of MSG (monosodium glutamate) is controversial and consistent consumption may lead to health problems. Pregnant women and children should avoid regular intake of food items that contain MSG.During pregnancy the body goes through a lot of hormonal changes and daily intake of food that contain MSG could cause irritable bowel syndrome and nausea. The FDA has merely classified MSG as a food ingredient that is “generally recognised as safe” but it is important for parents to understand that children should not consume food items that contain MSG frequently.

As a nutritionist I would never take a chance with children’s health and would advice parents to limit the use of MSG in their cooking” says Divya through this recent press release.

Divya has always expressed her concern about children’s health... “Malnutrition is a significant issue in our country. India has seen remarkable growth in many aspects but we need radical improvements in many areas. 38.4 % of children under the age of 5 are stunted and only 62 % of children between 12 to 23 months are immunised. The well being of children is one of the most important indicators of a country’s progress...every child should have access to quality health and education”, concluded Divya.
