Director Karthik Subbaraj, in his recent exclusive interview with Galatta Tamil, revealed an exciting information about narrating a script to Thalapathy Vijay. However, the star actor could not connect much with the script and the project did not happen. Karthik Subbaraj opened up about this development when he was asked if he would be doing a film with Thalapathy Vijay in the future. Talking about it, he said, "He should only decide that. I have narrated a story to him once before, but he wasn't sure about doing that. That story did not meet his expectations. I understood. Hopefully, if I write a script that syncs well with him, we shall look at the possibilities. The story I narrated to him was several years back".

There have been several reports about a Vijay - Karthik Subbaraj project in the past, but for the first time, we have got a clarity from Karthik himself. On the directorial front, Karthik Subbaraj is currently busy with the pre production works of his next - Jigarthanda 2. The film has been officially announced and the casting process is currently happening in full swing. Reports suggest that Raghava Lawrence is likely to play the lead, but an official confirmation on the same is awaited. Karthik Subbaraj's last directorial venture was the Chiyaan Vikram - Dhruv Vikram starrer Mahaan which opened to good reviews from the audiences. The film had a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video.

Karthik Subbaraj is also an active producer who is bankrolling projects under his banner of Stone Bench Films. His latest production venture, Buffoon, starring Vaibhav, in the lead role is running in theatres. The talented filmmaker also has multiple other projects in the pipeline which are in various stages of production.
