Veteran voice actor, television and film director and composer SV Ramanan passed away during the early morning hours of Monday, September 26 and the legend's demise has shocked a lot of people in the industry. According to reports, Ramanan passed away due to age-related ailments and his mortal remains has been kept at his residence in RA Puram for people to pay their final respects. The final rituals will take place today (September 26) at 3 PM. SV Ramanan is the grandfather of leading music composer Anirudh Ravichander and his fans have been mourning the legend's demise on social media.

For the unversed, SV Ramanan is a pioneer in the radio and television industry and his voice has a special connection with the people of Tamil Nadu. Through his voice overs, many advertisements have got wide popularity and are still remembered specially by the fans. He lent his voice for the radio advertisements of popular brands and they were an inevitable part of our childhood. Apart from giving voice overs to radio advertisements and directing television commercials, SV Ramanan also directed a film titled Uruvangal Maralam and interestingly, he composed the music for the film, as well.

Uruvangal Maralam featured Y Gee Mahendran and Suhasini in the lead roles, while Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Jaishankar appeared in cameo roles in the film. Actor Hrishikesh of Velai Illa Pattathari and Rum fame is also one of the grandsons of SV Ramanan.

Years back, SV Ramanan heaped praise and felt really proud of his grandson Anirudh's growth, while talking to the Times of India. He was quoted as saying, "Anirudh is one of the top music directors in south India today. What I’m impressed about him is that he is not at all aware of his celebrity status… that he has become a big music director, or has so much craze among youngsters, especially girls. These things have not gone into his mind. He’s someone who goes out of his way to help people".
