Actor Bruce Willis' family has announced that he will be stepping away from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia. Aphasia is a condition that can affect a person's ability to speak, write and understand both written and verbal language. It is caused by head trauma, brain tumors, infections, and strokes but it is not known what caused it for the Die Hard star.

His family took to Instagram on Wednesday (March 30) and made a series of posts announcing the actor's untimely step back from acting. His ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, posted a picture of the 67-year-old actor along with a caption that read, "To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn". The same statement and photo of Mr. Willis were posted on Instagram by his wife Emma Heming Willis, and three of his five daughters, Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis.

Bruce's acting career began in the early 1980s but he did not become a household name until later in that decade through his performance as the iconic John McClane in the 1998 action film Die Hard. He later went on and gave groundbreaking performances in Pulp Fiction, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense, etc. which carved his name into Hollywood. Several actors and other stars including Jamie Lee Curtis, Seth Green, and Hilarie Burton have offered their condolences to Willis and his family following the tragic news.
