Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam had a dream run in the theatres, taking everyone by pleasant surprise. The film was expected to do well at the box office, but it overpowered the expectations and turned out to be a humongous blockbuster. It collected more than 100 crores at the box office and also emerged as a highly profitable venture for the people involved with the trade of the film. Thiruchitrambalam opened to favourable reviews from the audiences and the feel-good nature of the film managed to strike a chord with the masses and the youth and family audiences thronged the theatres for multiple watches.

Following the highly successful run in the theatres, Thiruchitrambalam is now all set for its digital premiere and details regarding the same are out. The film will stream on the Sun NXT app from September 23, coming Friday, and people who missed to watch the film in the theatres can catch it from the comfort of their homes from the said date. The film is sure to have a solid viewership on Sun NXT as several people would want to watch the film again for its fun and romantic episodes. Thiruchitrambalam features Dhanush in the titular role, while Nithya Menen plays his best friend, Shobana.

Nithya Menen's character turned out to be an instant hit among the youth and it has made the people yearn for such a friend in their life. Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna play the other leads in the film that has Bharathiraja and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander's songs were massive hits even before the release, but post release, it was the bonus song, 'Mayakkama Kalakkama' which took over the limelight. Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Mithran R Jawahar of Yaaradi Nee Mohini fame, the film has cinematography handled by Om Prakash and editing by Prasanna GK.
