Dhanush's next film, Maaran, has been announced to premiere directly on Disney+ Hotstar and will be skipping a theatrical release. Directed by Dhuruvangal Pathinaru and Mafia fame Karthick Naren under the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Films banner, the upcoming new-gen thriller features music by blockbuster composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, whose association with the two-time National Award-winning actor has spelled phenomenal success over the years. With Maaran already gearing up for its streaming premiere soon in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages, promotions for the film are already underway, with the makers releasing the much-awaited video song for the first single titled 'Polladha Ulagam' on Wednesday.

Sung by Dhanush and featuring rap portions by 'Therukural' Arivu, the 'Polladha Ulagam' video song shows the actor setting the dance floor on fire. GV Prakash has added foot-tapping beats in the song that will leave anyone wanting to shake their feet and that is witnessed in the Maaran first single. Both GV Prakash and Dhanush have been a highly-successful combo in Tamil cinema for nearly two decades as their collaborations in the past namely Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna, and Asuran have gone on to be memorable. 'Polladha Ulagam' in Maaran is incidentally the second occasion Arivu has contributed for the rap after the 'Mavane' song in Dhanush’s 2020 martial arts venture, Pattas.

Dhanush will be seen as a journalist in Maaran opposite Master heroine Malavika Mohanan, with the supporting cast featuring talented names like Samuthirakani, Soorarai Pottru fame Krishnakumar, Mookuthi Amman actress Smruthi Venkat, while Master Mahendran will reportedly have negative shades to his character.
