A film that has been progressing in a quiet manner, Asuran, marks the fourth collaboration for acclaimed director Vetrimaaran and superstar Dhanush. One of the most successful partnerships in Tamil cinema, the two are reuniting after Pollathavan, Aadukalam and last year’s hit action gangster drama, Vada Chennai. With filming in its final stages, sources close to us have now revealed that Asuran will be coming out in theatres on October 2 on Gandhi Jayanthi as an Ayudha Pooja treat for fans.

Asuran is an adaptation of the Tamil novel, Vekkai, and is being produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations banner featuring music by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Dhanush will be seen playing dual roles after his Kodi in 2017 and with National Award-winning Malayalam actress Manju Warrier making her acting debut in Tamil. Being billed to be an intense action drama, the film also includes reputed director Balaji Sakthivel appearing as a policeman and Pasupathi in an important supporting role. Dhanush had recently during a media interaction for his upcoming film, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, had spoken about Asuran saying it is the most intense film he has worked in so far and has been a challenging experience. With so much being said about the film despite not many details getting revealed, the excitement among the fans is visible, who await yet another pathbreaking performance from the actor, who won the National Award for Aadukalam

Production on Asuran has neared its final stages and is expected to wrap up in the days ahead with the film’s teaser expected to be released on Dhanush’s birthday on July 28. Composer GV Prakash had also tweeted on his Twitter page that a special announcement on the film will be out in the next 7 days with many speculating it could be either regarding the first single track or a new poster or perhaps even a teaser update.
