The leading lady of Indian cinema, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has always won the audiences over with her presence on-screen and it all comes from her dedication towards the art and her craft. While the audiences are still awestruck by her performance in the dance number, Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise, the actress is leaving no stone unturned in her preparation for Citadel India.
She will be sharing the screen space with Bollywood biggie Varun Dhawan who will be making his big OTT debut with this show. This American show created by the Russo Brothers will have its Indian spinoff directed by Raj and DK. While there has been a lot of discussion about it being a remake of the original starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, but it seems this will be an original story telling the tale of spies in India. Varun and Samantha will both be seen playing the role of spies in this action-packed espionage thriller.
According to a source, “Citadel India is set in the 1990s. In fact, the makers play around in two timelines – the start and the end of the 90s. A special look is being worked on for Varun and Samantha, as both, the actors are looking to start their workshops by early November." The source added, “The series will go on floors by end of November/early December, once Varun is free from the promotions of Bhediya. Samantha too will wrap up her other commitments before jumping into the ambitious world of Citadel India."
Directors Raj and DK have already started the groundwork for this series, including pre-production, location hunt, and action design. Citadel will mark the first time collaboration of Varun and Samantha. It’s the second association of Samantha with Raj and DK after Family Man 2. It will especially be a pleasant surprise for her Hindi-speaking fans across India to see her command the language for a project out and out. The leading superstar has few other projects in her kitty including Shaakuntalam, Kushi, and Yashoda.
