Earlier this morning (July 16), Chiyaan Vikram's upcoming film with director Pa Ranjith - Chiyaan 61 was officially launched, much to the delight of fans. Since then, the social media has been abuzz about the project and it has definitely turned out to be a film to watch out for. Chiyaan 61 will be directed by Pa Ranjith who is fresh from the success of Sarpatta Parambarai. This will be his 7th directorial venture after Attakathi, Madras, Kabali, Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai, and the yet-to-be-released Natchathiram Nagargiradhu. The fans have already started to pin high hopes on Chiyaan 61 and the movie is expected to hit the screens during the summer of 2023.

Following the launch event, Pa Ranjith met the press and media and opened up about the project. He sounded excited about his fresh collaboration with Chiyaan Vikram and GV Prakash and also added that this is a challenging film to be made. He also revealed the premise of Chiyaan 61 and it has made the fans super excited. Talking about the project, he said, "It feels exciting to work with Chiyaan Vikram who is one of the best actors of our times and I am sure the audience will also have the same excitement, because the premise is one such. The film's story takes place in the 19th century at the KGF (Kolar Gold Field) mine.

The film is based on the real life incidents that took place at the KGF during the British period. The film will have the treatment of both magical realism and realistic, close-to-life approach. Making this film is a huge challenge for me and my entire team and we need a massive production support and I am glad Gnanavel sir will back us. I am collaborating with GV Prakash for the first time and he is one of my most favourite composers. Definitely, this will be a new experience. Currently, we are working on the casting and details regarding the rest of the actors would be revealed once we finish finalising the names".

Well, it is indeed exciting to know that Chiyaan 61 will be a film that is set in the pre-Independence era. With the KGF backdrop adding more value, this is indeed going to be a riveting film, of all sorts.
