One of the most exciting films of the year, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Bigil directed by Atlee under the AGS Entertainment took a stunning opening across the world. Made at a budget of Rs. 180 crores, the action sports entertainer is Vijay and Atlee’s third film together after their previous blockbusters, Theri and Mersal. That said, Bigil has been enjoying a monstrous run at the global box office and has now surpassed Rs. 200 crores in collections while also achieving these numbers in a span of just 5 days since its theatrical release. The film had previously hit the Rs. 100 crore mark in 2 days and went on to break the Rs. 150 crore barrier in a span of 3 days and the 200 crores collections in 5 days now shows Vijay is without a shadow of a doubt a box office money-spinner.

Bigil is incidentally the third Vijay film to enter the Rs. 200 crores club after Mersal in 2017 and last year’s Sarkar and, it now remains to be seen the final numbers the film goes on to accumulate at the worldwide box office. The film is also Vijay’s third straight Diwali release after Sarkar and Mersal and has yet again cemented the fact that Vijay’s films releasing on the festive date are indeed a delightful time for producers and distributors. Vijay, who plays dual roles in Bigil, as father (Rayappan) and son (Michael aka. Bigil), is joined by Nayanthara, Kathir, Vivek, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, IM Vijayan, Indhuja, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Vivek, Yogi Babu, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha Iyer, Soundararaja, Gayathri Reddy, Devadarshini, ‘Thaadi’ Balaji, Dheena among others in important supporting roles.
