Popular Indian YouTuber Hindustani Bhau a.k.a Vikas Fhatak got arrested by the Mumbai police after he violated COVID-19 restrictions enforced by the Maharashtra government in an effort to curtail the second wave of the pandemic in the state. Having participated as one of the contestants in the smash hit reality TV show, Bigg Boss's 13 edition last year hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, accusations were levelled against Hindustani Bhau that he had used an ambulance to travel to Shivaji Park in Mumbai to stage a protest demanding the government to cancel all exams for students.

According to reports, Hindustani Bhau was traveling in the ambulance to the spot where the protest had been organized despite the restrictions enforced to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Apparently, he tried to evade the police at major checkpoints, who eventually tracked him down and arrested him at the Shivaji Park for the violation of COVID-19 protocols. Upon reaching the location, Hindustani Bhau addressed media persons who had gathered and said, "I want to state that there are lakhs of people across the country who are succumbing to the coronavirus. However, students' lives should not be affected or put at risk during the pandemic and is why I'm requesting the government to cancel or postpone the exams until the pandemic is over.

An FIR has since been registered against Hindustani Bhau under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) of the IPC and 51 (B) (refuses to comply with directions government) of Disaster Management Act read with section 11 (violating provisions of the regulations) of Maharashtra COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.
