The long-awaited Avatar sequel is almost here and there are just two months left before the second film in James Cameron's Avatar franchise hits the screen. The makers of the film recently out a new promo to remind us that the wait is nearly over. Earlier on Sunday (October 16), the film's official Twitter account shared the new promo along with a caption that read, "In two months, experience #AvatarTheWayOfWater. Only in theaters December 16. " Check it out:

Avatar: The Way of Water will arrive in theaters nearly 13 years to the day on 16 December 2022 after the release of 2009's Avatar. The wait for the second installment has only raised anticipation for the sequel and James Cameron has previously said that the sequel will not be predictable. He said, "I guarantee you, you won't be able to predict it. What people hate the most is to go and see a movie and say, 'oh… predictable.' This is not predictable, I don't think. I defy anybody to predict where this story goes."

Four more Avatar sequels are in development as well. It has been decided to release a new Avatar movie every two years until all four sequels have hit the big screen. Avatar 3 will arrive at the end of 2024, followed by Avatar 4 in 2026 and Avatar 5 in 2028. Plot details for the upcoming sequel and the other sequels are currently unknown and are kept under wraps.

Avatar: The Way of Water will feature cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald reprising their roles from the original film. New cast members include Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Cowell, and Vin Diesel.
