Blockbuster Tamil director Atlee and his wife Priya have announced their pregnancy and are expecting their first child. The couple shared the joyous news on Friday, December 16, by taking to their social media handles, while also unveiling photos from a recent couple photo shoot. One photo shows Atlee seated on a sofa while smiling and looking into Priya's eyes, who are cuddling their adorable pet dog, Becky. Another picture is from a maternity photo shoot and is a black-and-white image where they are seen happy together with big smiles. The third image is a drawing recreated from a picture of the couple along with their dog Becky carrying the announcement of their pregnancy. Their statement read: "Happy to be sharing that our family is growing. Yes! We are pregnant❤️Need all your blessings and prayers throughout this wonderful journey of ours🤗With love Atlee, Priya & Becky🫶🏻".

Atlee and Priya tied the knot on November 9, 2014, in Chennai in the presence of family members and close friends, with several notable Tamil cinema celebrities and personalities gracing the occasion, and the couple also recently celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. They have been setting relationship goals for years now, often sharing romantic pictures on social media, and are one of Tamil cinema's most adored and beloved couples. Atlee and Priya's announcement of their pregnancy has received a huge response as fans and celebrities have been flooding the comments section of their post with congratulatory messages and wishes. 

Atlee, a former associate of iconic Tamil filmmaker Shankar, made his film-making debut with the romantic drama Raja Rani (2013), which he followed up with three back-to-back blockbusters with 'Thalapathy Vijay - Theri (2016), Mersal (2017), and Bigil (2019). He is currently working on Jawan, his directorial debut in Bollywood, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, and is set to open in cinemas worldwide on June 2, 2023. Produced under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, the upcoming pan-Indian film releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages is touted to be a mass-action entertainer and also marks the Bollywood debut of 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara as the female lead, and Anirudh Ravichander, who is composing the songs and the background score.
