Ashwin Kumar has been the talk of the town over the past week after his speech at the audio launch of Enna Solla Pogirai created a furore among fans and some in the Tamil film industry. Having carved a niche for himself as a household name after his stint on Vijay Television's reality cooking comedy show Cooku with Comali, Ashwin landed in hot water after his statements at the Enna Solla Pogirai received a lot of flak, with many calling his actions arrogant and boastful. Ashwin, who will make his debut as a hero on the big screen in Enna Solla Pogirai, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, appeared in a video on Thursday addressing the controversy that has stemmed about after his speech at the film's audio launch. 

In the video, we see Ashwin getting quite emotional while trying to explain the reasons behind his statements at the Enna Solla Pogirai audio launch and labeling them to be a mistake. The Cooku with Comali star said that his statements were made in haste and were not intentional as he had gotten excited upon the cheers of the crowd. Ashwin further added in the nearly 3-minute video that he did not intend to hurt anybody's feelings and extended his heartfelt apology in case his statements caused grief to anybody. 

The controversy surrounding Ashwin Kumar's statements have led to a lot of buzz surrounding Enna Solla Pogirai, which is gearing up for a big Christmas weekend release. Having also been seen in recent smash hit music videos like 'Kutty Pattas', 'Criminal Crush', 'Loner', 'Ennam Pol Vazhkai', 'Adipoli' and 'Yaathi Yaathi', Ashwin will be sharing screen space alongside his Cooku with Comali fellow contestant Pugazh, who has been cast in a pivotal role in the upcoming rom com. Directed by A. Hariharan under the Trident Arts banner and featuring music by the Vivek–Mervin duo, Enna Solla Pogirai has two female leads namely Teju Ashwini and Avantika Mishra, while veteran actors Delhi Ganesh and Subbu Panchu will be seen in major supporting roles.
