Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Peyton Reed based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope Pym / Wasp. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and the 31st film of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). The film will star Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, and Randall Park.

The first trailer of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania was dropped recently and it has taken the Marvel community by storm. It is clear that the film is going to be a family affair and an adventure. The trailer also reveals Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next big villain, Kang the Conqueror, who is stepping into the scene to set the stage for what’s to come.

The third installment of the Ant-Man franchise will tell the story of how Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym, and Janet van Dyne all end up getting transported to the Quantum Realm after Scott’s daughter Cassie 'Peanut' Lang builds and activates a machine that sends them all there. Though Scott and Hope both have experience dealing with extraterrestrial threats and saving the world by shrinking down to minuscule sizes, none of them really understand what Janet went through in the time she spent in the Quantum Realm — a subatomic plane of existence where the laws of physics behave wildly different, among other things.

As beautiful and nonsensical as the Quantum Realm looks, the trailer also lays the foundation of how there are also some highly advanced megacities populated by millions of microscopic people. Later, we see Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror reveal himself. He was first introduced in Loki as a madman living on the brink of reality. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled for a theatrical release on 17 February 2023 and will kick off Phase Five of the MCU as its first film.
